Adobe Extension Manager hangs installing the extension
It seems Extension Manager has a bug and it's relatively frequent to have such an issue, you will find detailed info about it at the Adobe forums.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure to have installed the last version of Extension Manager (6.0.5 for now May 2013) by downloading the update from:
Windows
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_ex...Update.zip
Mac
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_ex...Update.dmg

After installing the Extension Manager update please try to open this application and if success install the Album DS extension or update from the Extension Manager "Install" menu

We experienced once this issue and solved it deleting the file:
C:/Users/All users/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db Please change C: for you own drive letter.

The file has to be deleted with Extension Manager close, then start Adobe Extension Manager directly, if all is well you may install Album DS from the Extension Manager menu.

Notice that All users is a hidden / system folder and to make it visible you have to
- At Windows file explorer select Organize.
- Now select Folder and search options
- click at View Tab
- Select the Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives option and click Apply/OK.
- Uncheck the option to hidden system files
Now go to Users/All Users/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db
Delete this file and try to open the Extension Manager and load the extension.
If this is not working fine close Extension Manager and rename the folder Users/All Users/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6 to Users/All Users/Adobe/OLD_Extension Manager CS6
Start again Extension Manager and install the extension

The problem by renaming the whole folder is that other extensions are unloaded from the Extension Manager and you will have to load them again if you use them.

Following Adobe indications you may also rename all the XManConfig.xml files to other names, this files can be found in the Configuration folder of each product, for sample the files for Photoshop CS6 are in:
C:\Program files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Configuration\XManConfig.xml ( Windows)
/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Configuration/XmanConfig.xml ( Mac)

You may also try to uncheck the read only property for follwing files:

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\Configuration\DB\ExMan.db
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\Configuration\DB\ExManUser.db

For a Mac the files can be found at:

Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Extension Manager CS6 / Configuration / DB / ExMan.db (Delete)
user/ Library / Application Support / Adobe / Extension Manager CS6 / Configuration / DB / ExManUser.db (change privileges)

Another possible solution found at Adobe forums is to remove all mxi files from the following folders, but please backup first:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store

in Mac this folders are:
Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Extension Manager CS6 / EM Store
user/ Library / Application Support / Adobe / Extension Manager CS6 / EM Store

RE: Adobe Extension Manager hangs installing the extension
Some users have reported that closing Adobe Extension Manager and starting it again as Administrator has solved the issue for them.
